What is Puffle???
Hi all, i still cant work out what type of puffer this is, i brought him as a Monotrete Cambodgiensis but im not convinced! He has an eye spot, is very aggressive and doesn't tolerate tank mates except an ansistrus. Any ideas would be greatfully received! Here are some rescent pics of him.
Thanks

he is about 6 inches
Re: What is Puffle???
I don't know it's hard to say (for me haha) but at a guess I would say possibly Monotrete Cambodgiensis. I know it says they're rare, but who knows. How much did you pay for him.

I paid £50 for him as he was supposedly only 1 of 10 that have been imported into the UK in the last 20 years.

Re: What is Puffle???
if 6 inches could be arrowhead..i do see a black marking on top of his head. If shapes like arrow 100% gurantee is an arrowhead puffer..if no then i dont know. Could be fangs but dun think they grow that large. What color is he? Looks kinda greenish to me but it could be the flash from your carmera. Then again arrowhead puffers changes color due to enviorment and mood.

He is deffinately not the right shape for an arrowhead but yes he does have a dark patch on his head.

Re: What is Puffle???
Its a V shape, but looking at the pufferpedia he doesn't have the face shape for an arrowhead. i guess his markings on his head is just a coincidence.

Re: What is Puffle???
It's definitely not Tetraodon suvattii, though that V is a neat coincidence.
It does look a bit like Monotrete Cochinchinensis, but they only grow to 3 inches (pufferpedia) and the only other one that looks close to it is Monotrete Turgidus.
but I still think Puffle is Monotrete Cambodgiensis. I wish there were better pics of one though.
Is Sean ever on here? could he get better pics to compare with?
There is also the possibility that is a cross breed of something. It happens with many other fish (most animals closely related actually) and there are quite a few puffers from the Mekong Basin...
