bailyi (hairy puffer) at lfs

Post by indie »

I was at my lfs today and was looking in at the puffers (as usual) and i noticed that they had Tetraodon Baileyi's in stock. They had 2 of them hiding under a rock.
Those of you that have these fish, whats your experience with them? They seemed a bit boring, but i was wondering how interactive they are? or do they just hide all the time. What size tank do you keep yours in?

i had a baby one, about an inch long in a planted tank, meanest puffer i ever had. I couldn't do any pruning or decorating in the tank without him following my hand and biting it, all my other puffers are afraid when i put my whole hand in, but not him. Thats just my one experience with a baileyi, i took him back after a week.

Mine is about 4inch and he is the most active puffer compared with my other lurkers.
For days he's swimming around in his tank, loves it when I do WC he really goes nuts.
Sometimes he just lies somewhere, make me believe he's dead but when I put my hand in there (or something else) he rushes towards it.
My hairy is definitely my favorite puffer.
