Food for Palembang Puffer Question

Post by Homer »

Okay, so i have a Monotrete Palembangensis (Palembang Puffer) AKA Homer, which up until now i have been feeding live and dead baby shrimps...

So lately, i've been thinking about feeding him live / frozen shrimp / mussels etc from the supermaket but my question is, do i need to do anything in particular to the food before i feed it to Homer??? i.e. par boil or anything like that, since technically this all comes from sea water right???

Also, i keep hearing people on this site mention that they soak their puffers food in Vitamin water before feeding, but what exactly is this vitamin water that keeps getting mentioned on these boards since i honestly i am bit stumped by what you all use???

Thanks in advance for any advice or help you guys & gal's can give me...

Freeze & thaw in tank water, treated with fish vitamins overnighht. Crack it open a bit so he else they have been defrosted & then refrozen (or some reason like that--I was never clear on that one).

Buy the live/frozen shrimp/mussels etc. from the supermaket.
Freeze at least 48 hours.
Get a cup of tank water, add the food & a few drops of liquid vitamins, purchased online or at your LFS.
Soak overnight to absorb vitamins.
Drain off water & feed to your puffer.
