F8 fin nipping :(

Post by Boris_puffer »

so I came home last night from the state fair and I found my new f8's munching away at my poor dragon gobys fins. there is plenty of line of sight breakign and such I moved him to my 10g reserve tank for the moment. just wondering if I added a few caves if it would be ok to put him back in after he healed up none of the nipping was not down to the flesh so hes lucky. It probably not a good idea I'm just asking for some opinions. once a fin nipper always a fin nipper :/

They will never stop now, I'd say.

Yeah my figure 8 is king of the fin nippers. Tears up every other fish in the tank. I think the "break the line of sight" thing is BS. I tried it to, didn't do anything...if its in their nature to nip; no plant or rock is going to change that.

He's staying in my current 26 gal and I'm getting him another figure 8 buddy.

My gobies, mollies and flagfish are going into their own 30 gallon instead. I hate having to maintain both tanks...but I really like my puffer dispite his nipping and refuse to get rid of him. Its really hit or miss with fig 8 personalities...so I'd say he'll most likely keep on biting your Dragon.

Good luck
