Re: not my year
It should work. I've had to add 2 different F8s to my tank, due to jumping.
I remember to close the lid now. How big is the tank? Lots of decor in there?

Re: not my year
Do you have a HOB and tall plants? Makes me wonder if he was swimming the surface, maybe was on a plant leaf and jumped? I have seen mine jump over the plant leaves when swimming through them. We keep the water level down almost 3 inches from the top on the 55g because it is not exactly level
. I truly believe that helps with jumping fish as well.
Some here add new fish w/ a divider for the first few days or so. It seems to work. It's always a gamble w/ fish. Sorry for your loss's.

Re: not my year
thanks for the kind words. im going to try a new puffer out as soon as my lfs gts some new stock in ( there last two look a little.... sick but im told they just got down with some seriouse ips ( yeah fish doctors will not sell an obviously sick fish they treat them and nurse them back up then sell them) but the trip out there want a complete loss i found the cutest baby bricher there ( who the second he got him hom ( in my qt tank) proved he was a polypterouse by devouring a live endler 2 times the size of his head and the ntook a nap under a plant ( he favorite on im guessing he is currently sleeping on one of the leaves .. if they do sleep) they also have a marble gar thats all scared up ( i was there the day they made the mistake of a tank change for a bricher and he was chewed on we all thought him dead, but he lived and although he has a scare he got his strip back where it had been chewed up on its neck. i would get him but i dont think i have a tank big enough ( period) and deffently not with enough stocking room for him withs tank mates he wouldnt eat so ill leave him to some one else. anyway thanks for the kind words and advice
