If you're considering a 30 gallon(36" x 12") consider a 45 gallon instead - same footprint, but half again taller. Uses the same lighting, stands, etc.

Ok so here is the deal. I'm looking for 30 gallon because I have a curtain amount of money i'm limited to atm which is under the 200 range. Ive been lurking on craigslist and it seems a decent 30 gallon tank sells for about 70$. and then I have to buy sand salt all the chemicals and stuff yo cycle my tank before I buy the fish then I actually have to get them and not to sure where to get the BBG's but I know a lfs that I can pick the f8's up at.

This is the tank i'm looking into buying its a 36 gallon eclipse tank.

All the fish you want (2F8's, 2 BBGs, and the goby) can all fit nice and snug in a 36 gallon. The goby will only be a bottom dweller, nevermind him getting to 18 inches, he wont take up swimming space. 2F8s would go alone fine in a 15 gallon, as would 2BBGs. Youre looking good, just make sure you have a proper filter, a heater, a bubble wand, a hydrometer, and plenty of caves and plants (fake only, or theyll be destroyed). I would go with sand as a substrate.
