hey does anyone have any experience with an Abei puffer?

I checked the pufferpedia, was just wanting to know what kind of substrate they like, do they like one food more than another, can i place any other fish with them ?

No unfortunately not. They are best kept as singletons as they are very aggressive and one can end up killing the other. Not sure about foods. Substrate is personal choice as the puffers don't mind.

I have an abei ..They are a very fun Puffer with a lot of adittude I have sand in my tank ..for food mine likes Mussels ,bloodworms and sanils,dosn';t care for Squid ,brineshrimp ..but he is weird enough to eat a pea here and there.. It would be good to have lots of little hiding spots ..anad plants live or fake ..Mine will not tolerate any other puffer he makes it very clear ..They will change colour to what suits their mood you will learn your puffers moods quikly..lol..mine likes to stalk me when I do wc ..he scares me ..I hold a wooden spoon in the tank while doing it ,so there is somthing between us he makes it very clear that I am bothering him ..some are probably more aggresive than others ..I got Satan and that is what I named him ..but hubbie calls him Steven..they are a great Puffer and if I had a spare tank or somthing happened to Satan I would look for another

I'm cycling his tank now, i have sand in there as well, did u use any driftwood to create hiding places? Have u used live plants or silk? What size tank do u have him in? I heard that they are the more aggressive type of puffer, i have bumblebee gobies in with my f8 and gsp but i guess i wont be placing any in his tank.

I have fake ...you can use driftwood ..but he seems to like to hide in the plants ..I ahve him in 40 g althought hey Only Need a 25 ..he seems to like one side of his tank more than The other.I have a few terrecotta pots, rocks but he likes being in the plants the most ..definatly no other fish ..when I got him he was not trained on dead food so I had some feeder guppies ..I put one in and the hunt began ...they are oppurtunists ..they will not chase the fish but creep about and lurk in a plant and wait for the fish to swim above or close by to stike ..this is my experience with my abei
