Price of mbu puffer?

Post by mr. luke »

what should i be looking at paying for a young mbu puffer?
Im digging out the old 8X3 tank stand for him lol,
I got quoted at £500 for a 8x3x4 tank so im going ahead with it lol,
would this be a sufficient size for an adult?
putting ema and my young savers account to good use lol :p

That's about £64 for 5 inches, £48 for 3 inches and 215 quid for 5 inches. but don't forget that over here they dont seem to change the actually digits of numbers they just change the currency sign. So a puffer at $120 will probably end up being £120. To prove my point, you are paying £500 which is $926! :D Well, that's what you get when you live over here - High prices for everything, especially petrol at the moment!

that size tank is ideal for a mbu. I have 2 of them 16" + 2" baby. what area in the uk are you? the season for importing them is at a end this year ive only seen about 40 come in the midlands anyway usually around 40-60 pounds each. The price for that tank is good i imagine thats without lid + stand etc. If you need spec on how to build a strong stand i have all this and i can forward my specs i have 2x identical solid pine stands 8x3 + 6x2

with a tank that size youll need 2x large external filters like eheim 2080's and a good few powerheads to circulate water so you dont have any dead spots. To be honest youll be better off looking of Aquatics-classifieds.co.uk for 2nd hand systems 6x2 ++ youll get a full setup for the same price just as adequate as doing it by buying it all seperate. I purchased a 6x2 with stand lid 2080 t5s sand etc etc etc for £300 last year. I sold it on after a while.

a 6x2 will be fine for a mbu but idealy a little bigger. if you have a 8x3 you can have a good communit ytank.

if your local i can always help if its yourf irst tank setup and give advice on how to rasie mbus as ive had 4 over the past 8 years. lovely rewarding fish but defenatly not for beginers.

well im only down the road im in coventry

ive currently got 2 of them the baby is in a 6x2 community with almost everything you can imagine that isnt agressive. there are some good tank manufacturers ive seen tthat will make you a 8 foot tank for around the £400 mark. 10mm glass w double base sliders are a extra £10 i believe. ill edit this later with his details

I wonder why they're so expensive? I guess it's good since only a small percentage of hobbyists can handle a fish that size.

Yeah, we have a concrete floor, we do now anyway, we moved house so we had an inside room to keep all the tanks with a floor that could take the weight lol,
