Ive got a large community tank (2meters x0.5x0.6) and it has fairly peacefull fish, plec's, puntius aurulius barbs, parrot cichlid, severum, breeding kribs, keyholes, bolivian ram, bgk and a schilbe intermelius, all big softies and dont bother with anything, appart from my kribs but there terratory for breeding is in the back corner and nothing goes there anymore lol,
Ok, so the deal is, i had a mbu puffer in there for a time as a grow on for my lfs, he was great and got on fine with everything, after a nip or 2 things learnt to not try and nip it in the first place because they get it back lol,
ive also had success with a couple of red eye puffers in there befor and they lived out there lives in harmony with the others.
Are there any other siuitable puffers? ive heard that sa's can be quite a friendly bunch or can be real terrors,
what is the best to try in my community?
as ive already said, everything goes about there own lives without bothering anything else?
any opinions would be a great help.

Re: Puffer for my tank?
Maybe South American puffers, but even that could be risky.

I am very surprised those redeyes behaved themselves.

Re: Puffer for my tank?
the tank will be fine for a mbu till 1.5-2 years but i wouldnt mix any other FW puffer in a community tank long term they will eventually have a turn.
Get a fire eel they can be just as friendly as puffers and just as playful

Re: Puffer for my tank?
fire eel isnt an option, my bgk gets really anal about other similar fish, he got really mumpy with a small polypterus so i guess he wil not like an eel lol,
What size is needed for an adult mbu then?
ive only ever had them for a year beofor.
