Pleco/Algae Eater in Acyrlic Tank with Puffers

I have noticed some algae in my 60g tank and while I have now cut down the number of hours that my light is on, I think I may need some sort of algae eater.

I have read that plecos have teeth and can do damage (scratches!?) do my acyrlic tank. Does anyone have recomendations for a better algae eater that will get along with my two (2) SAPs? Thanks! -Matt

try some siemese algea eaters they will keep your plants clean as well and they don't get that large.

Thanks for the help. Will these algae eaters do any harm to my tank (as in scratching it with their teeth)? They do not appear to suck onto the aquarium's wall so it should be fine.

I have kept a 6'' pleco in my 100G acrylic and I don't think it's damaging the tank.

Be sure not to get the more common, Chinese algae eaters--they get mean. Siamese are much harder to find.

And be sure to get a real SAE and not Flying Fox. Most LFSs (and also their suppliers) don't know the difference. But you'll see the difference in the algae removal. SAE is a good algae eater, FF is not - it bare takes algae at all. And to make the confusion even more, you have False Flying Fox. They took some algae when I had them, but they get pretty mean when they get bigger too. Not as bad as the Chinese algae eater, though. This page teach you how to tell them appart.
