ok so here is the plan about adding salt thell me if im wrong ok
step on buy enough salt for my 55gallon tank to become fully marine and get a sg meter

step 2 mix a 1 gallon bucket with all the salt that i need for the tank to become fully marine(so its really salty water lol)

step3. create a siphone from the salt water buckt to the main tank but tie a knot so that the salt water drips slowly into the tank..
step 4 wait test and watch the tank become fully marine

if im wrong here plz let me know

Not exactly... 1st of all, I suggest going to the General Discussion forum & see how to get a 6% rebate from DFS & if you order before Sept 12th, you will also get an extra $10 rebate, if you order as per the instructions in that post. You must go to the origional site & then click on the DFS site thru them.

Order yourself a BUCKET of the cheapest marine salt they have, along with a hydrometer or refractometer, the cheapest powerhead you can find & test kits for FW/SW ammonia, nitrite, nitrate & pH. You may also want to get a few other items (as it will all be included in the same shipping), like freeze-dried plankton/worms, some nice decor, etc.

You should figure roughly how much salt you need to raise 50g of water to 1.002 (that's about a little less than 1/2 cup of salt/10g), mix it up in a bucket (not anything ever used for soap) overnight, with your powerhead & pour into your tank, when refilling from a 5g water change (shouldn't have to do much more for such a lil fella).

All this being said, I'm not of the school of raising the SG to marine for juvies. Many have done this sucessfully but since these fish never hang out in SW for long in nature, we still don't kow the long-term effects of doing this to a juvie. They seem to do quite well in marine conditions as adults though.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...
