Tank swap success... well so far so good..

Post by t1gerbee »

Ok, so I did it...

I swapped my oscar and brackish puffers around.. the Oscar is now in the 60G, the ceylon and GSP are in the 100 (UK) Gallon tank ...

I then raised the salt levels in the 100G from 1.010 over a few days up until 1.020 and dripped my porc and stars and stripes over from their 55G corner tank...

so now I have all 4 puffers in the 100G tank.. running at 1.020 .. (colours are AMAZING on GSP and ceylon... like i've never seen before!) ,an empty 55G and a oscar filled 60G ...

I've been getting the odd ich spot on ET (porc), so am currently dropping the 100G into hypo (hence not worrying about cycling the tank or changing SG rapidly, as i'll lose the bacteria with hypo anyway...) and leaving the old marine tank fallow at 1.025 with the live rock and hermits in...

lots of WC coming my way, but hope with such a big tank, and 5 fish no longer than 2 inches each i'll have a day of two's restbite... but we'll see...!

I'm going to keep it all like that for 3 months, NO MESSING THIS TIME. I'm going to win against this white spot forever... ! After 3 months i'll transfer the rock and hermits to the 100G and break down the old marine.. (or convert it .. hee hee hee)

So, although they will outgrow it sooner or later, for the moment they all look tiny and are loving all the room.. a rectangular 100G tank makes for alot more swimming room that a 55G corner..!

How many puffers can you spot?

(lots of work left to do to make tank nice, but most of the tough bit is thankfully over! Parasite eradication comes first, then i'll style the tank...)

Aww, little puffer heaven! :D

I definitely noticed colour improvements in both of my Ceylons when I introduced them into the marine tank. They're much happier in the higher SG!
