Hi all
Im the middle of setting up a tank for my new fahaka and i would like to set it up as close to it's natural condition's as possible, all the book's i have looked at state open water and bank zone's of river's so im guessing at lots of water worn rock's and possibly roots hanging into the water, does anyone has any other infomation on what type of material's i could use to create this biotope ?
Also im thinking of putting in a marine flow pump to replicate a river's current has anyone tried this before with a fahaka ?

How involved do you want to get? You could go a simple as siliconing branches onto the back of your tank, you could build a shelf out of eggcrate (light diffusion grating) and plants hanging in the water or you could build a crazy elaborate background out of concrete and fiberglass.Hot Rod Zoidberg wrote:Hi all

As far as the river flow design, I've done that on a couple of diferent tanks, it's essentially called a laminar flow. The simplest design was with 2 canister filters, 2 rubbermade (actually Sterilite) containers and some plumbing. It looked something like this:

Cool thats a very good design would you say you have had more success with this type of idea over a marine pump? i have
just finished setting up the 45g temp tank going to start on the 120g as soon as the building work is finished at home, i like the idea of a solid background using the back of the tank as the river bank with roots hanging into the water, any idea what type of plants (if any ) i should be using in the type of set up ?
