Tobies

Ok guys so now that im pretty much settled into my new house i need some ideas for tobies. Im thinking i want something other than a valentini

There are lots to chose from. Have you checked the Pufferpedia? I actually found a coronata toby labled as a Valentini.

Here is what I have had other than the Valentini:

Hawaiian White Spotted Tobies are *badwords*! Nice to look at but they are super aggressive to tank mates and even to the hobbyist if they want to.

Paupan and Solandri's, hard to tell apart except for a small line difference on the very top of the fish are social and beautiful to look at. They WILL eat any coral you have though.

Even leathers & shrooms? Mine didn't touch anything. I just found another one on Craigslist & am hoping to add him to my softie tank.

This Solandri eats everything. I think it's his little ego that causes him to do so. I wouldn't think a normal Solandri or Paupan would eat mushrooms or leathers though. In my case I think it was a more "monkey-see monkey-do" mentality because he witnessed Sunshine eat leathers that we would bring home from the store for him. Again with another larger puffer and a rock of mushrooms. I think he figures if they will eat it he will too.
I think you'd be good as long as you don't have any troublemakers doing bad peer pressure.

Those are the Epilamprus if I am not mistaken. Very nice fish from what I have seen. Somewhat shy.

you are correct. have you ever had one?

Yes, actually. I never kept him with any coral so I am not sure whether or not he would be a threat to it or not. I have found that he was peaceful and a tad bit shy.

I have a Fingerprint Toby (Canthigaster compressa) hes awesome, not aggressive at all. Sometimes he does like to "peck" at the longspine urchins but other than that hes pretty laid back. I also have a valentini, shes laid back as well, shes the diva of her tank. She was really tiny when i got her so shes in her own 30 gal with a rose urchin. I want to try to put them together someday....just wish i knew how that would go before i actually did it! lol

Ok i was looking at divers den and i found a sharpnose puffer (C. rostrata i do believe) there care is similair to the valentini correct? They strike me as interesting tobies.
