I decided that for my 29 gal, I am going to get 2 F8s. But I have a question.
As stated in the Pufferpedia, krill and bloodworms are good for the puffs, but what is the verdict on other frozen goodies like mysis shrimp and brine shrimp. The reason I ask is because I already feed those items on a pretty regular basis to my reef tank.
My offered foods would then be:
Bloodworms
Krill
Live snails
(Brine shrimp and mysis)
Please let me know if I should avoid any of these for any reason, or if you have had luck with other items. Thanks in advance.

Re: F8 food item question
Brine shrimp aren't great, but they're ok as snacks. Mysis shrimp are a bit better, but not as good a staple as bloodworms, blackworms, earthworms, and snails.
No matter how magnificent your successes or devastating your failures, the worlds' approximately 5 billion impoverished people could not possibly care less.

Re: F8 food item question
I've heard that Brine Shrimp are really fatty and don't provide a lot of nutrition. You can use other frozen food like Scallops, Cockles, Muscles, Clams, Crab, Lobster, Squid, Octopus, Shrimp, and other raw seafood that isn't spiced/coated. Around here, I can get bags of mixed seafood pieces for about $4 and it lasts me quite a while!
My puffers don't particularly enjoy Mysis or Brine. They eat them sometimes, but I know my Abei puffer hates them.

Same. My puffers are bloodworm monsters.

Re: F8 food item question
Thanks everybody!
So bloodworms are ok for a staple diet then? I will still feed snails and krill, but I just didn't think that bloodworms were all that nutritious either...
p.s. I picked up my two F8's today. They both look AWESOME! I am so happy to have puffers again!

Re: F8 food item question
you should try and very it as much as possible but if they will eat mysis then go ahead and give it to them its way healthier then brine you might be suprized by what they will and will not eat
Re: F8 food item question
Thanks Jimi. I guess that is what I wanted to hear. I want try other stuff as long as it will not HURT my puffs, but if it is pointless than I guess I can just skip it. I try to keep the foods varied in my reef tank also, but with the reef you get to mix in flakes, so I just feel like the reef gets a more balanced diet.

Re: F8 food item question
I never feed the same thing two days in a row. Mine love bloodworms, krill, mussels (I get them from the supermarket and punch a hole in the shell so I can dangle it until he's full and easily remove it with the string), mysis shrimp, chopped up shrimp from the market, live snails, live shrimp. I also feed brine shrimp with spirulina occasionally.
I'm going to order frozen clam and squid asap, but I haven't tried them yet. Pretty much as long as the current moves it or it moves on its own, my puffer will eat it. Although, he hasn't tried for his molly or bbg tankmates.
