WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT- Monotrete Suvattii

Hey guys just wanna know if anyone have experience with Monotrete Suvattii -arrowhead puffer. My LFS are selling them for $25 each and he got 3 of em about 4 inch. Already read some info on pufferpedia. Just wanna know more info on your personal experience.ARe they active? what they like to eat? Can you sex them?How's the agression?Tankmates allow? Thx in advance

I don't own one i'm afraid but I thought about one once so researched it a bit. They are lurkers and therefore not active, they will sometimes bury themselves so you may not see it all the time. Not sure about any specific eating habits apart from snails. I don't think you can sex them at all visually. They are aggressive and will probably eat anything else you put in there unless it is another arrowhead. Sorry if you already knew all this cause I see you have been reading the pufferpedia but oh well, now you know it twice as well as you did before!

hehe thx riggers..im having 2nd thougths on getting it. Even tho i love all puffers but i would want one thats more active but who knows..maybe i will change my mind again

another thing im considering about is they burrow under the sand. This might uproot my plants and probably cant put a drift wood in there since they grow upto 6 inch long

to answer your question 30gal is ok for one adult, not the most active as usually will bury themselves and only move when food comes past them. great personalities, Sexing is very difficult. VERY VERY agressive small fish i would say probably the most agressive puffers ive kept ever even compared to fahakas. keep one to a tank with no other housemates or youll have issues

WHat kinda setup you recommand besides sand that i know. WIll they uprrot plants when they burrow themselves? Should i only do semi planted tank and leave some open space?

most of them will not uproot plants too much although i would recoment using silk plants, a few rocks and caves will be appreciated. I used sand substrate about 2" deep at least enough for them not to be seen and feel safe

I still have a hard time getting mine to take dead food.I have to go fishing for my puffer. I have to tie the shrimp i feed him to fishing line and then I tie it so that it is in the airstone bubbles so it acts alive.

Deffinately not an active fish. Mine only moves out of the sand at night and if i turn on any lights that touch his tank then he just sits still most of the time.

he hasn't uprooted my plants and i have bog wood in there as well. Since they don't move around much they prefer tanks that are heavily.
