Show your F8 setups!
Show your F8 setups!
Well I got a F8 last night and right now he is in a 10 gallon. Hes cruising a little bit too much against the glass, most likely because his enivvronment isnt fully set-up. Anyway, im looking for ideas and would like to see what keeps your puffer happy! Thanks

Thats an awesome setup! Is it brackish, cause I was wondering how those plants would hold up in it...

Hey!
Since 4 days it's brackish and the plants should survive, cause ist java fern, java moss and vallisneria.
Till now they seem fine...
The tank is 20 gallon and there is one lamp with 15W.
Best,
Jessy

Re: Show your F8 setups!
Be prepared for the plants to melt on ya, after a year I am having a helluva time keeping java alive in my F8 tank. Recently upgraded to a bigger tank with better lighting and have started to fertilize in hopes of keeping them alive. I will post a pic of my 60g F8 tank really soon

Be sure to upgrade the lighting fixture soon as possible to 2 watts per gallon or better for plants to thrive. Use some flourish excel

Thanks, they seem less bored in the bigger tank. Now all I need is to get a pair of knight gobies and a couple more bbgs:D

Re: Show your F8 setups!
Working on it, I just got a couple of smaller mangroves to add just gotta climatize them and figure out how to put them in the tank. Wanna get a bunch of hygrophilia in there too. Just have had previous problems keeping plants alive in brackish water but with the better lighting and now adding micro ferts I hope to have better luck.

Yea lighting is very crucial. Need least 2 watts per gal anything greater even better but have to worry about alage bloom. I keep mine at 2 watts per gal because i only have low lights plants which makes it easier to maintaine for me.

Re: Show your F8 setups!
I would be happy with just a tank full of java in there but do want something a little taller. The hygrophillia should work under this light just won't grow like it does in my co2 tank and get that nice red pinkish color in the leaves.

taurenandragon76: How big and old is the archer? Did it grow fast? and I thought BBGS and Archers didn't get along?
