Few minor Issues

Well, my first issue is...

I just got my SAP's from apachepufferman a week or so ago, and they are lively and healthy, they are just both in a 20 gallon tank. I have my 30 gal tank, which I planned on moving them over to, but it has my one last girl DP. I wouldn't hesitate switching them over, but my other two DP's in the 30 just recently died from internal parasites, and I do not know if my last DP, or any other fish in that tank look like they might have them. All the rest of the fish are fat and happy. I'm just worried that there are parasites in the tank, what do I do?! Aggghhhh!

My other issue is, in both our 75 and 24 gal SW tanks we have aptasia (sp?). How do I get rid of them. I know there is a product you can inject them with, but I also hear you can just inject them with myuriadic(sp?) acid, which we happen to have lots of (don't ask why). Would the acid work the same, or do/should we buy the actual product?

And Algaefix for marine aquariums, good, bad, whatnot? Opinions please!

If nobody is showing signs of internal parasites, then I wouldn't do anything; then again, I'm no expert. As a precaution, you can try the Pumpkin Seed recipe for internal parasites, and just soak their food in it a couple times (so as to avoid using medicines).

For aptasia, just get a needled syringe from a drug store (they'll ask what you need it for, and just tell them that you're using it to inject the aptasia in your aquarium), and pick up some white vinegar (aka cleaning vinegar - assuming there's no other things in it but white vinegar). My roommate just did this, and it worked like a charm. The trick, however, is to inject it RIGHT into their base/root. Then, when they curl up from being stabbed, they'll keep the vinegar inside them and it'll kill them. It's also safe for aquariums (assuming you aren't dumping in like 30 ml of it, haha).

Honestly, "algae fix" type of products are just a quick-fix (assuming they even work). Your best bet is to get a good cleanup crew that eats more/different algae, and a mag-float/scraper for any coraline that you don't want on your glass. If you're having problems with other types of algaes, it means that there is an imbalance in your water chemistry (such as too many phosphates), which needs to be handled in a different manner. I'm still new to saltwater aquariums, though, so I can't really help you out on specific products, or how to solve different algae problems.

well, I'm just wondering about if the vinegar would do anything, because I have LOTS of aptasia.

Well, it's acidic, so you wouldn't want to use a lot of it in your tank at once (it would drop the pH quickly if you did). However, I'm sure you could kill a few every couple days or something. Test it on a couple Aptasia and see if it works for you.

That, or go buy a Peppermint Shrimp. I believe they eat Aptasia.

Really? I should check into that, though I think our shrimp load is reachiong it's maximum. (we have a pistol and a coral banded already)
