blue damselfish & Canthigaster Compressa

Hey, do u guys know anything about Blue Damselfish (Blue Devils) ? I have a Canthigaster Compressa and wanted to add the blue devils to the tank with the puffer. They are way smaller than the puffer but I heard they are aggressive and dont want them to bother with the puffer. Suggestions??

They are aggressive and there is a chance that they could harass the puffer...and any other tank mates you add in the future. Then again the puffer may hold his own. If you do get one or some then I would be prepared to remove them (which is a pain if you have alot of decor) and re-house them else where.

I had yellow-tailed blue damsels & they didn't harass anyone. I hear they are one of the nicer sppecies. Kept them w/Valentini, bluespot, snowflake eel, dwarf lion & a burrfish.

Its so funny, they hired a new guy at my LFS and he told me they were Blue Chromis but by the way they were darting around the tank going after smaller fish I thought that was somewhat aggressive behavior and figured I'd check it out in this marine fish book I have and sure enough they looked just like these blue devils. They were also backing their tails up to smaller fish and hitting them with their tails, I've never seen this before. The tails were clear so they were def blue devil females. I dont know if i should try it or not Thanks for the info guys ! I'm dying to post pics of my puffers but everytime i get the camera out they move to the other side of the tank, I'll eventually do it!!

Chromis, Damsels and Clownfish are all of the same families. That is why some people have issues with combining the species together. Chromis, I believe from my experience, are the most docile of the fish.

Can u recommend any small fish that i can place with my canthigaster compressa, Toby?

Most yellow-tail damselfish are nice guys.

I agree. The yellow tails are the less aggressive.
