Dwarf Puffers

Post by LizB »

I saw a new thread talking about puffers and the dwarfs were mentioned.

I want to tell you all that my little Max passed away awhile ago. I just haven't been able to talk about it and I still don't like to because it broke my heart. Some of you might remember that he had IP's when we brought him home. I treated him with gel-tek and in about a week his tummy got nice and plump but there was just always something about Max that worried me. Many of you all have probably experienced having a fish that looked fine but you just had this deep feeling in your gut that something wasn't right. Well that's how it was with Max and how do you treat a gut feeling? So he passed away and it's hard for me to even type this to you all because I hate it. I hate with everything in me that he died and that's all I want to say about him ok? I'm starting to cry because I just can't stand it.

So now I want to move on to Emmy. After some time as Emmy grew one day I saw a red line on her once nearly snow white tummy so Emmy is now Bo. :) Named by my little boy as usual. It was very difficult to start calling Emmy Bo and her a he. Bo is so tough and my biggest attention hog. He lives here in the bedroom with me and sometimes at night I have to go sit by him and play chase the finger. It took months for him to stop being so timid and to trust me. I swear he's the cutest little thing I've about ever seen. There's just nothing like that little face and those big eyes. A friend asked if Bo would ever grow into his eyes. :)

Sometimes I really wish I could put him the 75gal so he could have a really big place to explore.

I've read that for the most part DP's will only eat blood worms. Not Bo. You should see him shake and tear at a piece of shrimp just like his big brother Harry. He also loves brine shrimp and scallops. I haven't tried squid or crab yet. He is such a wonderful little guy. I'll probably always have at least one DP.

AWw Sorry about your loss.
There is still a chance that Bo could be an Emmy ( a slight chance) for very rarely females can get the red line on the underside (Nick's dp does) Does Bo have eye wrinkles or no?

Liz I'm sorry about your loss.

I have always thought about putting a fish next to the bed but never have. I bet a puffer or betta would be awesome to wake up to. Now I'm wondering if you have an Emmy or a Bo.......

That's so sad, I know just how you feel. :( Sending you hugs....
I know you did your best. These little puffers are like our babies and it's really hard to loose one.

Thank you Rocco. Long time since I've "seen" you.

I can't see wrinkles and neither can my little boy. I've gone back to calling her Emmy since that's been her name for mths. She's so precious. I know she wouldn't care if I called her dog. :D

Hugs, Beth

I don't wake up to Emmy because it takes her forever to wake up! :D But I know what you mean. :)

I swear if she were human she'd get out of bed and stagger around the room for 15-20 min.

She is the funniest little thing. I've never had a fish be groggy when they woke up. I wait until I see that little pea swimming back and forth in the dark tank before I turn her light on so that I don't startle her. I hate for anyone to come in my room and turn on a bright light while I'm sleeping. :)

I imagine that you're still deeply hurt over your loss. It's as groove said, no one but our fish friends understand what we go through for our little fin babies. They are precious beyond words.

Love You, Beth
