Fahaka's New Tank!!!

When i first found the Fahaka at the Local Fish Store i only had a 20 gallon tank. with a few regular mollies, red eyed tetras, and then the puffer.

I found a tank on craigslist for $100

Its a 65 Gallon Hexagon tank, which i put a bunch of plants live and plastic, some snails and ghost shrimp for foods...and his own space. he looks tint now. haha. he only like 3 inches. and the tank is gigantic to him. hahaha.

Looks empty for now. but he will get Huge, and the tank should be good for a while. LOL

I did the same thing except my tank is a 55g. He is almost ready for his new tank and its only been 2 months!! I got him at 2 1/2" and he is already pushing 5"!!

I hope my puffy thrives like that. at the moment he is not eating dead food. he is kinda picky.
The tank is super nice i got for him, it would be perfect for him, its really tall. When he gets full grown he will need a bigger thank though. probably like a 120. i just dont wanna go there yet. hahaha.

The lfs i bought him from was just giving him guppies.
i will somehow have to get him to eat better foods.
i bought him some snails, a crab (which he killed but didnt eat), a few guppies (just to see what he likes), and some ghost shrimp (which someone said wasnt good for him).

I am workin on his diet.

My LFS just fead him guppies as well but he took right away to bloodworms. I posted that in the other thread.

Trust me once you get him eating a good diet you will be suprised at how fast he grows. An inch a month for the first year seems to be an uderstatement for me right now. I'm already planning my big tank.

That is the best thing you can do for your puffer. He'll have a grand old time growing into it.

I just moved my 2" Fahaka into his permanent home, a 180 gallon (72"x24"x24") and he's loving it! I put him in a 20 long for the first couple of weeks, to make sure he'd eat, check/treat him for parasites and to finger* train him, then moved him to the big tank. It's amazing the difference in his attitude and the way he swims. He actually uses his caudal fin now, rather than just helicoptering around.

* I like to train my fish to come to the front of the tank by wiggling my fingers to let them know food is coming.

theres that natural river rock in the tank..most of the time i cant even find him after a good meal. LOL> he blends in with the plants.
we threw in a couple platys and a couple red eyed tetras ..so at least something is swimming around. lol. '
Fahaka doesnt seem to even chase them...yet!
i have a smaller tank for when that day comes. At least my 5 year old can find him..as he has claimed him as "his fish".
