F8 and Filter Wool

Thanks for all your help so far. The advice on this site is great and following it has helped me with my first puff.

He is doing very well, but I have come across one unusual problem. After feeding him yesterday I noticed something very fine trailing from his mouth. At first I thought it was a hair, but on closer inspection I saw what to me looked like one single strand of filter wool. I have no idea of how much he has swallowed, but his behaviour and swimming have not changed any (although I haven’t attempted to feed him since). The strand was still there this morning.

Has anybody come across this before or have any suggestions? I’m reluctant to attempt to remove it, given his small size and the fact that I cannot remove him from the water. However if I have too I will have a go.

if you do try to remove it you could do it one of two ways, you could hold him under the water in a net and use plastic tweezes to remove it, of you could try knocking the little guy out with clove oil much the same way SAP owners do to trim their teeth. i'm not sure if it will work with a figure eight but i don't' see why it wouldn't (i'd get a second opinion from someone more experienced before trying that method, also here is the site on how to do the dental work and includes the method to tranquilize the fish http://puffer2.proboards37.com/index.cg ... &thread=25 ) hope what ever happens the little guy is ok, good luck

Just grab him with a net & take it out underwater.
