Version 2.0 Now with more plants.

Post by chunkyckn »

I added more plants and now the tank has 2 Otts, 2 Pea pod puffers, 40 feeder snails and 30 ghost shrimps. So far, the puffers seems to be leaving everything alone, but I guess it's just day one. Let's see if they'll start eating the snails in a few days.

Let me know what you guys thing.

Old stuff:

I have a 20G long tank for my dwarf puffers. I plan to put a total of 4 Dwarf puffers in there. Do I have enought plants and caves in there to keep my two crabs and dozen of ghost & red shrimp alive?

Please advise.

Nice tank

Is a big tank for 4 DP's but i would definately recommand heavily planted tank for them to explore. Try using some LIVE plants.

I would personally reccomend MANY more plants, you need tall plants. Rule of thumb: Make sure your puff can't see straight from one side of the tank to the other.

I'm a personal fan of over planting :]

I agree with CTHM. If you don't want a plant that is really tall though try the plants that you can stick on the walls of your tank. they are pretty dense and they give your DPs a place to hide as well.

here is a pick of my community tank. See the plant on the back wall in the center with the blue flowers. The Red one on the right also hangs on the wall. You can place them at any height you want and fan them out as well to.

Ok, I guess I'll just get more plants for the tank. Thanks for all the input. I can't do live plants because I'm a noob and I don't have enough time to take care of them. Doing 50% water change every week is already enough work for me.

Rocks and plastic mangroves are also a good choice to fill up voids.

I don't have any real plants either. I am working towards that point. I might start in my arrowhead tank because its smaller but i hope to get to having all my tanks with real plants.

I just added more plants and a new log. It's kinda messy, but I hope it should do for now.

The floating piece of foam is for the Crabs to rest on.
