Snails breeding during cycle period?

Tain't fresh, and tain't marine! Talk about brackish setups.

Snails breeding during cycle period?

Post by side19 »

i just looked in my tank and noticed there a dozens of baby snails crawling around my tank. the tank is still cycling so the water is less than ideal yet the snails are thriving to the point that they are breeding. i thought they would need much better water to do so. does this mean once the water is ideal and the tank fully cycled i'll be having them breed even more? if so i'm excited i might not need to go out and get more snails every week! haha. just felt like sharing that the snails were doing well despite the tank cycling, it was quite a shock to me.

I had a pair of knight gobies spawning in a crashed system, with ammonia >8 & nitrite >5!
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

I have barely any snails left, I'm a snail breeding failure! I had to go to Petco and beg for some. I am trying Ramshorn snails now. The tank has a heater, filter, java moss, fish flakes, and a vacation feeder.
PUFFER RULES
Do not take your Puffer out of water (you can kill them)
Change water at least 1x a week
Change water immediately if there is high Ammonia/Nitrite/Nitrate
Monitor water levels (PH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, SG,etc.)
Give your Puffer snails to wear down his/her teeth
Soak dry food with tank water/vitamin water
When buying a Puffer look for one with a fat belly
