'topaz' puffer

hello all.
i'm trying to find more information on 'topaz' pufferfish, not sure if this belongs in the fresh or brackish forum! its listed as a synonym of t.biocellatus in my aqualog book, but a lil pfk book i've got calls it t. steindachner and says he's a freshwater puffer...
whatever it is, we have a rather large (6'') one at work. he's being kept in fresh, pH around 7.8, with yours truely doing a 10% waterchange daily.
and he eats like a beast! trying not to overfeed, but i know my workmates are overindulging him while i'm away! will try and get a picture asap, he's gorgeous; we've been tentatively hand feeding, and he's always begging and swimming like a maniac when i go past!

anyway, in the pufferpedia i've seen a species that looks just like it: t. Sabahensis.
my question is, was/is this aka the topaz? or is this a case of too many 'common' names. they're driving me insane! said puffer was merely listed as 'giant spotted puffer' when we ordered him from the wholesaler...

A case of inconsequent common names....

If it is 6" and looks like one, it likely is a T. cf. sabahensis from the pufferpedia. I'd go with the care information the forum search and the pufferpedia recommend for them. Some are kept by forum members for quite some time. Just as the pufferpedia notes, I guess noone is absolutely sure what the correct scientific name is. Anyway, it likely is no F8 (T. biocellatus, old name T. steindachneri)... and "Topaz puffer" is mostly used for T. fluviatilis.
