What Lies Beneath (Worms in the GSP tank?) Updated

Nick what is the scientific name for spazworms? I can not find anything on them when I google it.

I have NO idea,and couldn't ID them as anything exact from pictures I've seen, thats why I named them spazworms, from their habit of spazzing out when they move in the water. I believe from their shape they would be classified as one of the many harmless varieties of nematode worm(don't get scared when you google, there are a few parasitic nematodes, but far more harmless ones).

That was my first ID. Then I read Myaj's topic on the worms she had. Did not look the same. You know the web has nematodes listed as harmless in the info I found a few days ago. They never mentioned the ones that could kill fish.

Where do you think they come from? My guess is they came from the fish? If so would't it be wise to deworm? Or do they come from the bacteria in the tank or perhaps some type of outside fly that lays eggs in the tank?

I have no idea where they come from. Planaria are totally harmless but magically appear in fish tanks somehow, I guess these guys are the same.

I'm happy to say those disgusting little worms are gone. I have to admit the puffers enjoyed them.
