Growth speed of porcs?

Post by Bonsai_girl »

Anyone know the growth speed of porcs? Just wonder if they're like other puffs, growing rapidly in their first year.

Ta :D

I found some baby porcs, about 1" late last weekend...I asked the same question...I was told that they would get to about 5-6" in the first year.....at least.

Which would relate to what sort of tank size? If they get to around 19" and need 120 US gal (thanks PufferPedia!), what do they need until full grown?

(I'm not thinking of getting one yet, just curious. I'm more into oversized tanks anyway :D)

To be completely honest, I dont know. I really would love to raise a porc myself, but I am holding off until I know I can get a 120, (for money, and real estate reasons). Buy once, save money.

Well that's what I'm hoping to do too :) We'll be moving house (soon, I really hope!) and then I can get all my tanks sorted out.....see how much space I have for new aquariums.

Even so, it's interesting to find out, cos I could always put something else in the 'smaller' tank afterwards.

Ha, awesome! Once I upgrade my tank for the GSP's I am gonna try something out with my current one too. I have not quite decided if I want another planted aquarium, but done all up, or a mini reef tank. Either would be really cool to have.

*Bump*

Anyone? Anyone know their growth rates, and what size tanks they'd need each year?

im not 100% sure but i bielieve they grow very quickly the first year up to 1"/month up to 12" then it slows down but i might be mixing it up with a different puffer not sure.
