Question about GSP
I just bought 3 GSP for my 20L aquarium. Should I return them? The pet store told me they only get around 3 inches, but on here that is doubled! I don't want to hurt these cute fish.

Re: Question about GSP
I fully cycled the tank for a week before putting them in there. I'd rather take them back and get the figure 8s or pea puffers

Re: Question about GSP
GSP's need 30 gallons each and full SW when full grown.
How did you cycle your tank? Very rarely do tanks cycle within a week.

Re: Question about GSP
you probably should take them back. one gsp needs a minimum of 30 gallons when its full grown. their adult size is 6"-6.5". they also need brackish water. please read up on these guys.
also, if you just ran an empty tank for a week (filters on) that does not make a tank cycled (i know this is not what most get told at places like petco or petsmart). there is a whole article on cycling a tank properly. gsps (any fish really) need a fully cycled tank.

Re: Question about GSP
gor 20gallons you and the fish would be much better of with either the f8's or dwarf puffers like you said, the dwarf puffers would be my suggestion for a beginer becus they stay in freshwater and can have more than one in a 20 gallon, but yes with only a 20g tank and three GSP's i would definitly suggest taking them back, unless you are prepared to get a 100 gallon brakish tank right now lol

Re: Question about GSP
3 GSP in 20 gal, they might seem like they r doing fine at first (when they are young)
but as they grow, 20gal is not gonna work.
I had mine upgraded to 46 gal for 2 GSPs, I probably need to upgrade to 100 for them when they get even bigger.
F8s are cute just like GSP, but i think they need 15gal/F8, and additional 10gal for every +1,
and i guess you won't just put GSPs or F8s in your tank, so
better get a bigger tank.

Re: Question about GSP
46 is just a little small, 55 is suggested for two if im not mistaken so they should be fine in 46 until 4.5-5" and maybe even a little larger as long as its well planted and you keep up water changes (or its marine and has alot of live rock and a good skimmer on it and still good water changes). 100gal is coming in 2weeks, so I am gonna put them inside, Oo they are only about 1inch right now!!! weeeee little guys XDD
the 46 right now had 30lb live rocks and a remora skimmer, water change every 5days 40~50%
is that good?? or i need to water change more often like 2,3 days?
i think we are still on topic, cuz is still discussing about GSP

Re: Question about GSP
in marine salinity with 30 lb LR and remora skimmer 50 % a week is plenty, i believe most ppl do around 20-30% every two weeks in a marine tank so doing 50% a week is plenty, i might suggest just a little bit more live rock when they get larger. but if your getting a 100 gallon then you can always get a third GSp, or look into a couple tank mates, i know a couple people have worked with clowns and GSP's.

Re: Question about GSP
Why are your tiny GSPs in SW?
Sorry for getting off your topic seremalvado , are you returning them? Read lots of info from our Library here, before you make any more decisions.

You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

they are almost 2.5inches now, i didn't measure for a while~not 1inch anymore~
and i read some posts said some people transfer GSP to SW earlier so they can use SW filtration~
then I slowly raise the GSPs SG and put them in SG 1.018 Oo, gonna raise to 1.020 this weekend during water change.
Sry Seremalvada about off topic~
