Thanks for the ID, pufferpunk.
Dwarf Puffers will not mix with those fish in that size tank. Good luck convincing your mom of that.

Have you read the fishless cycling article in our Library?

You'd run out of time! A quick way of cycling is putting the filter from the current 29G on the new 29G. It will cycle in a matter of two or 3 days.Sean W. wrote:No, but i will

Re: series of questions...
All those other fish are in the other 29g? What will he use to filter that one then?

Re: series of questions...
i had planned on doing that, im going to just squeeze the filter into my tanks filtration system, and let it filter like that, then put my moms filter cartridge back, her tank will be running with out a cartridge for only a minute or two.

You can leave the filter off when you have the cartridge out. You're fish won't die for 5 minutes without a filter.Sean W. wrote:i had planned on doing that, im going to just squeeze the filter into my tanks filtration system, and let it filter like that, then put my moms filter cartridge back, her tank will be running with out a cartridge for only a minute or two.

i know
i just didn't want any one to say
" oh.. during that time the ammonia level could spike and your fish would die " or something ridiculous like that

Re: series of questions...
but just squeezin the filter into my filtration will work right? that will get all the bacteria and everything into my tank, i dont want to just squeeze it into the water, i want to put the bacteria and everything in my fitler system so it doenst make my water dirty and nasty looking for a little while.

What type of filter is it? If it's HOB you can exchange cartridges.Sean W. wrote:but just squeezin the filter into my filtration will work right? that will get all the bacteria and everything into my tank, i dont want to just squeeze it into the water, i want to put the bacteria and everything in my fitler system so it doenst make my water dirty and nasty looking for a little while.

Re: series of questions...
What you are doing is only "seeding" the filter. You will not be transfering ALL the bacteria which is supporting the bioload of that fish. Expect some ammonia & nitrite.
