For a Dwarf puffer

1. in your experience, and photos, what is the best kind and color substrate?
2. in your experience, and photos, what is the best looking background, a picture of like a fish tank, or just a flat color ie. black or blue
3.What would be the best and most effective filter for a 29 gallon with 7 - 9 DPs?
4. would a feeder cone be a good idea or should i just drop the worms in or an eye dropper?
5. lighting, i know it varies, but, what would be a good place to start as far as wattage for a 29 gallon planted tank?
6. for water changes... how many drops of the dechlorinator and the conditioner do you put per gallon?
7. what percentage and how often would i need to do water changed in a 29 gallon planted tank with 7 - 9 DPs? i have been told 50% every week.. but that's a lot of water
8. how many otos should i get for a tank that size?
9. clown loaches a possibility with DPs?
10. when people say they need caves, what do they mean?
11. do you think 29 gallons is to big of a tank for them? i think its going to be a really nice set up, but i also think, and have seen a lot of 10 gallon set ups with 2-3 DPs look really nice..

I prefer grey/tan pebbles

I don't use a background on any of my tanks

I don't know, I use Whisper HOBs on most of my tanks
4. would a feeder cone be a good idea or should i just drop the worms in or an eye dropper?
Either would work, but the feeder cone would be more forgiving if you accidentally put too much food in.

Depends on your conditioner. I use Prime, so it usually depends on gallonage per teaspoon/tablespoon

It's not really a lot of water considering that there are members on countless forums that do 50% WCs on at least 400 Gallons of water in their house twice a week. Have you done Water Changes Before?

I've never had otos before, sorry.
9. clown loaches a possibility with DPs?
I suppose it could work, but not in a 29G. Clowns get too big for a tank that size.
10. when people say they need caves, what do they mean?
Puffers are very territorial and feel safer if they have a home, such as a cave. It's not necessary, but it helps.

Not for Dwarfs, you could do maybe 5 or 6 comfortably if it's planted well.

Clown loaches might not be the best decision for you. Although they are rather hardy, they are hard to treat for medicine and not really beginner fish.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Clown Loaches are schooling fish and are very timid when kept alone. Although it's possible to keep it in a 29G for life, it's not optimal. What other fish do you have in your 29G?

they feel like hard rubber

in my tank there is a small school of neons, we have a gromi(sp? spelled like it sounds ), a khuli loach, we had a huge angle but it recentaly died of old age ( 4 years old ), umm some otos, and some corys, and thoose artic what ever bottom feeders that are all white ( stupidest fish ever ) and we have what we call a stick, a couple scissor tail fish, a couple feather fish ( not sure if thatswhat they are actually called )

Okay see if they float or sink in a small bowl of water. So far we have

? x I have no idea
and some other fish......

Can you try and post more pictures of your fish? It's easier to identify with pictures.

I agree clown loaches like company of conspecifics but they will definately outgrow a 29g tank. Mine are 7" & 8". It will take a while though.

We need more than two pictures to ID the "feather fish" and the other fish.
Guys, we need IDs on the ones in bold.

Like Pufferpunk said, they get too big for a 29G, up to a foot. If you want to keep it, I would suggest a bigger tank (maybe 75 Gallons) and more clown loaches. But that's just me.

Its not my tank, its my moms.. so what she does with it is outta my power, i have told her these things, but she doesnt listen to me....

i dont want to talk about her community tank, its up to her, and her money...
