Re: Dwarf Puffer Question
It's a female..if male would have line from mid side all the way to the tail...
Re: Dwarf Puffer Question
Beautiful puffer!!!! Love the color!!
I have the HARDEST time sexing puffers. I have two that I'm pretty sure are female. And 1 smaller one, that has the wrinkles and the yellower color... but no dark line. I don't know.... they all get along so whatever- but I'd LOVE a male

I think they're about the size of a dime? They're tiny.Nick wrote:How big is it?
I'm trying to get a picture of the other one which I think is a male.
This is the best shot I got of him. He's really camera shy. Always darts away when he sees the camera lens.

They both get along great. I picked them out because they were swimming along together at the pet store.
I just fed them some bloodworms. Everything looks a-okay.

Re: Dwarf Puffer Question
Only dominant male puffers will typically have lines. My DP tank has a large dominant female with the darkest line, a large male with a line that barely shows, and two younger puffers which seem to be female.

Re: Dwarf Puffer Question
I've never seen a female with a line on stomach..I have 2 males and 2 females...both Males have lines and females do not..my females are very much darker...and my males tend to be much lighter in color but much bigger than females..

Re: Dwarf Puffer Question
My DPs are bizarre looking. The two largest are basically BLUE, and the smaller green and golden with black spots, much lighter than the larger ones.

Re: Dwarf Puffer Question
I loved the look my first puffer had. RIP =/
I didn't notice my DP's blue markings until I took pictures of her with flash.
I had this look on my face o_O.
I love them! They're so cool. haha

Re: Dwarf Puffer Question
Daria, The puffer with the "blue" spot (light from the flash or from neons will make the markings appear blue) is female (white belly and no line) and the other one is male (yellow belly). The male yellow belly always comes out more obvious on pictures!
Nick, your female has a line? Where? You have pictures?

Re: Dwarf Puffer Question
It's a big female with a dull blue color all over, not a single eye wrinkle, and a huge belly line.

Re: Dwarf Puffer Question
Well well now!
That's a first! A female with a beard?!? (
that's what I call their belly line!) And what a white belly too! So belly line would be for dominancy instead of being for males?
I'll start a new thread to see if others have witnessed this.
Nick could you add your picture to the new post (titled Belly line in DPs: a sez thing or a dominancy statement?)
Thanks!
