Filtration for my GSP

I have my GSP in my 15G aqua one horizon 60 it comes with the standard hang on the back filter I also use an Internal fluval 2 filter is this enough for my tank?

I would like an external as i here this is better for the GSP but I want to move my GSP to my vision 260 when he gets to about 3" so don't really want the expense.

I am having a problem with nitrite it is now reading 2.00 and i am doing water changes every day about (40%) After learning more I'm not sure i cycled my tank correctly as i think i raised my SG to quickly

how long till the good bacteria lowers the nitrite levels?

Anyways your tank is definitely uncycled if your having nitrite that high. If you keep doing water changes it shouldn't be too long, is your vision 260 cycled? If so it might be safest to move him over to that tank.

He's an American rock and roll radio air personality I use it cause I play poker (badly) loosing 30 bucks as we speak man I hate this game)

The 260 is cycled 2 years now but its full of community fish so its not an option just now.

Do you think the filtration is okay for my GSP?

How many GPH does it filter?

I'd start doing whatever volume of WC is necessary to get your nitrate to 0, even if it's 80%, 2x/day. Can you get a hold of some Bio-Spira?

The fluval 2 pumps 100GPH Plus the aqua one I'm not sure it says its a 280 hang on filter system

I have changed 50% water every day for the last 4 days and the nitrite is still just as high I,m gutted i've made such a mess of cycling the tank. I have kept tropical for 2 years and had no probs. The GSP is the best fish i have had and don't want to loose it.

Its not very easy to get Bio-Spira I had never even heard of it. I am adding two buckets of 15L with an SG of 1.010 each to my tank. The tanks SG is 1.010 Is this the problem am I killing all the good bacteria ?

Should I just add some salt to start again at 1.002 then increase by .002 every week till I get it back to 1.008/.010 or will this harm the puffer even more than I am doing just now?

Man I'm gutted.

Yes, you are killing off your FW bacteria faster than it takes the time to develop SW bacteria. I wouldn't even concern yourself with salt, until you get the tank cycled. You can buy FW B-S from http://www.fostersmith.com but you shold use it with a SG of around 1.004, no higher. since my question is in the same realm, are the two sponge filters,and a 30gal design hang on back do the job, or more or ?

The article on brackish mentioned a powerhead to get some flow going? Thoughts?

Also, what is the level of salinity for these guys.... i took a more accurate measurement system, they are closer to the 1.75 inch mark than the 1.25 mark

Pet guy said possibly go full marine with it and switch my gravel and crushed coral substrate to Caribbean sand and live rock and just ditch the filters for a skimmer...

I am lost on this filtration stuff, please help\?
