Is there such a thing as a kind fahaka?

I'm assuming you put the fish in there after the fahaka was already in there?

It wouldn't matter, IMO. If it's a killer, it's a killer. Mine seems to discriminate but most don't--they kill everything. And you'd never know if a "nice" one would change it's "stripes", after it matured & still kill everything one day (or night). So far, I've just been lucky.

Two pleco's were first in the tank, one on purpose (the really big guy), the other I wasn't aware of until I found him dead, I'm assuming he got moved in when I started stealing driftwood from other tanks to fill up my aqua scape. Even though all my fahakas burying made me give up my dream of having a lush pearl grass carpet, it still lets me have some fun plants and never kills anything beyond resuscitation on crustacean chasing rampages. The tank still looks pretty nice even with a sparse foreground and I still have a few decades left in me to accomplish said pearl grass carpet someday.

I wonder if you can curb it's aggression. I mean, some fish get along fine if they're raised with them. Like that lion that grew up with the pigs a couple of months ago in the news. I think it might be possible, but I don't think it's a safe idea. I mean, if you are wrong, there goes a whole tank of fish in one night.

Well with keeping any kind of fish keeps risks of some kind. Some are controlable, others are not and some even still are unknown. Experience is the best teacher though so if you do try to raise them from young and it works..Hey! Good for you! Good for your fish! Others will try....but if it doesn't, lesson learned (for yourself anyways).

Yeah, I like to try things firsthand. If they don't work, they don't work. If they work, then that's one pleasure I can have that somebody else's failure won't stop me from experiencing.
