South American Puffers or Dwarf puffers

Post by Squirrel_ »

So.....

I have a 30 gal cycled tank (currently has 3 fancy goldfish in it). I am thinking of adding a heater, adding more plants and getting a little community of either SAP's or DP's. Oh and removing the goldfish obviously!!!!

1) how many of each could i comfortably house in a 30gal (obviously i know that it is one species or the other :o)
2) which would be the most interactive with me?
3) which would be the most entertaining generally?
4) which would be the most forgiving if i did something terrible to the water parameters!!!

What would your preference be?

Talk to me........

1)you could have about 8 dwarves or 2-3 SAPs depending on filtration
2) DPs would be more intereactive then SAPs
3)SAPs school so you might enjoy that, they also require tooth trimming which can be a problem.
4) both about the same

3 SAP or 5 DP in well decorated setup.

both are active swimmers. you should be able to play around with them once they have settled down.

3) which would be the most entertaining generally?
both are equally entertaining. I would go for the SAP. 8)

puffers are very sensitive to screwed-up water parameters.
so it is very important to have adequate filtration and proper water change regime in place.
