I believe that by living in filth, my imune system is stronger, I eat absolute rubbish and never get ill.
My tanks are the opposite - clean and well fed. They eat MUCH better than I do!
I work with a man who I always catch eating JS seaveggies - he swears that it's good for him!

Be careful with that pure tea tree oil. It can be toxic in those concentrations - to your children or pets. Just because something is natural it doesn't make it less a drug or any more safe. Most pharmaceuticals owe their origin to the natural world, most often from plants.
However, I use home brew "Melafix" but only when a fish is sick or damaged.
Tea tree oil has fungicidal properties and bactericidal properties which makes it a type of poison. Like most anti-fungals and antibacterials the stuff is meant to be just poisonous enough to kill the lower life form (bacteria, fungus) and spare the higher animal to heal free from the infection.
Dosing your water daily is like taking antibiotics when you aren't sick - a good way to breed resistant microorganisms. It's similar to those swilling super bug factories that some pet shops are, you know the ones - the ones that treat all their tanks half-assed with copper and never bother to test the levels.

Yep, my Granny lived to 104 eating the worst crap you can imagine. A veggie never passed her lips that I witnessed, except maybe as a pickle on a hamburger. She was fat - damned if I know how she lived so long. Have you ever heard of a lard sandwich - oh, the trauma.ChesapeakeSwellfish wrote:I work with a guy who eats sausages and fried chicken every day, and has no problem with cholesterol or high blood pressure. And he ridicules my surimi & spinach sandwiches...

Very interesting Thread
Thanks For the Recipe. As for a Daily or frequent Dosing of it i would Also Disagree , on the grounds of building resistant strains of Bacteria and the like. I am also one of those that does not have salt in my fish tanks just for the sake of it. I have used melafix , but generally as a preventative for fish when torn fins or scrapes appear, i have found it gives them protection from nasties while healing ,nothing more.
I am A big Fan Of natural Remedies, but make no mistake , they are Treatments and should not be Passed off lightly, , as for It being natural so is radiation , but you wouldn't want to live on top of a nuclear reactor!
As for People Cholesterol , well that genetics so while some people will only eat veggies and Sprouts and still have super high Cholesterol and others eat what ever they want and have low Cholesterol. All to do with the People , Sam with fish Some fish are Predisposed to getting sick while others are more resistant.

I wouldn't even bother to attempt it.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...
