Future GSP Tank
This is my future GSP Tank. I was fishless cycling it, but emptied out as much ammonia as I could and got bio spira instead. Whatever ammonia was left actually worked very well with the bio spira and the nitrites/nitrates rose up very well. The ammonia has dropped off pretty well, probably about .25 right now. Nitrites and nitrates still need to drop off a bit before I add anyone. I put a green LED light in there for at night... does anyone advise against this for a GSP? I'm not sure if it would bother him at all. It's not very bright...but I figure kind of a moonlight effect, but in green.

Looks good, but I'd add a bit of food to rot to make sure the bacteria you have don't end up starving when the ammonia already present finally runs out.
No matter how magnificent your successes or devastating your failures, the worlds' approximately 5 billion impoverished people could not possibly care less.

That's what I was thinking. I had krill in there, but it was getting kinda mushy, so I pulled it out because I didn't want it to fall apart and not be able to find it. I think I'll add another pc though until the rest of the stuff drops off.

Job 12:7-10. But ask the animals, and they will teach you; or birds of the air
and they will tell you; or speak to the earth and it will teach you; or let the fish
of the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the
lord has done this. In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all
mankind.

Thanks! I have a green light in there that gives a nice glow at night too. I think he'll like it when he comes home. Nitrites are still too high though... <pout>

Re: Future GSP Tank
Stuck a bag of gravel in an empty filter bag and put it in the HOB filter from my cycled tiger barb tank.. hoping that speeds it up a little bit. I know I shouldn't rush it, but I figure the more bacteria I can add and let it get settled in, the better it will be, and hopefully faster it will get there too.
