First F8

Post by cartoonbear »

After being pufferless for about 2 years now (took care of my GFs GSP) I now have a F8 :) He is swimming around his 15 gallon checking things out as we speak. He also has a fresh serving of blood worms available to him. In the hopefully near future I will be starting a 60 gallon for a couple of GSPs (once I can sell my reef). Just posting to say I'm back in the puffer game and very excited. So ne tips/ comments/ etc u think would be helpful? NE and all is appreciated.

Oh, when should I start bringing him snails?

And, would any algae eater stand much of chance in the tank?

I had a large algae eater in with my f8 and my then in my gsp tank but I got rid of him because he was too hyper and bothered my puffers. When he was in the tanks I never saw my puffers bother him but he bothered my puffers.

I wanted to put my algae eater in with my GSP's, he's too aggressive for my community tank. Everyone here said bad idea so I didn't even bother. Besides a little algae cleaning is worth the price of admission to have a puffer!

Plecos don't tolerate salt. I believe MTS snails + Algae eating shrimp can live in light brackish water, but I'm not positive. It might be best just to scrape algae off yourself.

I have an F8 and he's about 3/4" - 1". He refuses snails, which I need to get him in the habit of liking. I'm thinking because they're too small, and he seems to insist on his food floating. Picky little guy. I've read that they should be about the size of his eye if that helps. If yours is bigger he might be more likely to eat them.
