I've never heard that they do, they seem to thrive in regular old FW just fine.

Removes hardness and creates an acidic PH, to simulate very slow moving rivers and pools with lots of vegetation. It has a tea color to it which will be in the water as well. I'm not sure if it would more accurately replicate the wild conditions for SAP, it might make their beaks wear faster. They are fast moving puffers and love current, so its' generally believed that they would be from faster moving bodies than have blackwater, but if they are amendable to the PH and hardness it creates, it might help with the beak problem.

yeah there active little guys from what ive seen although i must say i have seen pictures of the amazon and it all looks pretty black to me so maybe i should put a low dose in and at a power head for a fun current for it ( im trying to get this all banged out because i have 3 coming soon to me and im getting ready)

lfs finaly got them in i ordered 2 a few months ago but some one else didn't want theres so im gitting 3 for my 55 i figure i can maybe get another but i can only get 3 at the moment (could i put one or 2 or all 3 in my community tank (its a 90 well plnted los ok hideing spaces and lots of swimming room (god knows why)

i've been looking for these puffers for like 6 months and i cant seem to find anyone online or locally (south eastern connecticut)

not realy sure about the web site selling fish but its fish doctors in Ypsilanti Michigan and i know what your saying it took me forever to get these puffers and there said to be failry common
