You figure 5 gallons each about 18. That would be cool
Re:How Many in 75gal
That's about what I was thinking but you know I have to ask

I'd say 18-24 DPs, depending on size and temperament... you'd want LOTS of tall plants all over, and maybe a big shoal of otos would be cool, too.
No matter how magnificent your successes or devastating your failures, the worlds' approximately 5 billion impoverished people could not possibly care less.

Yeah, I'd go with 15-18 DPs (I like to under-stock), a shoal of Otos, and a few larger shrimp (Amanos would be nice, or even something like a few Rock/Banana shrimp). If you can, find a surplus amount of pond snails that you can just dump into the tank. This will give the DPs some additional food and something to do!

Re: How Many in 75gal
Last night I read on the DP forum that Khuli Loaches can go in there! I was almost dancing!
I had 5 Khuli's for years and years and years and more years.
I loved those guys. During the day they would often hang in the plants and they got to where I could give them a little pet when I was cleaning the tank. I have missed them so much.
Honestly, when I found this tank my first thought was the possibility of filling it with just khulis.
Right now I'm planning on getting Khulis first, some shrimp if ya'll say they will be ok with the loaches and the DP's last. I want the DP's to go into the Khuli's home instead of the other way around.

Just make sure you get large shrimp (adults preferably). Smaller ones might not survive as easily.

Re:How Many in 75gal
I'm so excited! I called Petsmart today and they have about 19 Khuli Loaches, babies! I think I'm going to get 6. I have missed my khuli loaches soooo bad. My first crew was babies when I got them and they grew so big and fat. I had them for years.
I called the store that I get all my other fish from and they only had 2 DP's which of course I can't get yet anyway, but he talked like they may get more in soon. It's the same store I got Harry and the GS from. This has been the first time that I've been successful with GS, ever. I never lost a one except to Harry.
I hope to have the tank cycled fast. I'll use water, plants and filter from the established 10gal that I have. I may take the litte bit of substrate from there and put in the 75 too and give girl fish some new since I'm moving her as well. No one is going in there until the water is perfect. I'm not dealing with the little amonia/nitrite spikes for a second. Seems the story is always the same. Little spikes distressed fish. I don't ever have to go through that when I set a tank up. Can't wait! I do dread the fact that it's a good possibility that I'll lose a few of the little guys. You know the "help! my new babies are sick!" cry.
And thank you for the filter advice. I know where to go for classic eheim help.
Hugs, Beth

Re: How Many in 75gal
I read on the DP forum that someone got gobies and felt their DP's had lost to the cuteness of the gobies. I've never had gobies before but I've watched them at my FS and they were adorabe. Do they all use their fins like legs? Seems like the gobies I was watching were brackish or marine? Very colorful.
Would the gobies get along with the khuli loaches? I'm just curious.

Re: How Many in 75gal
I know I'll never find another deal like this. My biggest worry is that the glass will be scratched up. That's my biggest pet peeve. One little scratch and I obsess over it.
The tank I'm putting Harry in is so scratched it's driving me insane. I didn't realize the glass was that bad. I hope it doesn't show so bad with water in it. Maybe someday I'll have new glass put in. I will be absolutely sick if the glass is in bad shape on the 75. I'd rather keep the 30gal.
I'll tell you where I found this great deal AFTER I get the tank.
I don't want to tip off any Houston lurkers.
My brother found a 300gal tank, every thing with it , for FREE. It's was at a Dr's office and the doc just wanted to get rid of it, for someone to just pick it up and take it.
Keep looking Jase, you'll find one. A friend found my 43gal in the garbage. Looks like new.
