What does Buffy think he/she is doing??
What does Buffy think he/she is doing??
He/she has just produced out of the back end, this white fluffy bunch of something... looks much like tiny cottonwool balls with tiny black flecks, stuck together.
when he/she lefts me near it,. I'll get a piccie.
but at the mo he/she won't let anyone near it!

WOW, I have no idea. Are the black dots spheres? How big is buffy again?
No matter how magnificent your successes or devastating your failures, the worlds' approximately 5 billion impoverished people could not possibly care less.
Re: What does Buffy think he/she is doing??
Bit hard to see the black dots, they're a sort of oval shape, and they are very well wrapped in the fluffy white stuff.Nick wrote:WOW, I have no idea. Are the black dots spheres? How big is buffy again?
Buffy is a GSP, presently around 2-3 inches long.
Appears to be VERY attentive, turning it, and "blowing" on it, never actually eating it!

It's really starting to sound like. Did you do a water change shortly before the mass appeared, perhaps at a slightly different SG or temperature?

Re: What does Buffy think he/she is doing??
No. Last water change was last Saturday, next one due this saturday. All stats good, temp a little high at 28.2, and have now turned it down to 26 which is where is should be.Nick wrote:It's really starting to sound like. Only thing different since last week, is that have changed the susbstrate from that awful coloured gravel to aquarium sand (which has coral chips in it). Buffy has been making little "wells" in it recently (nesting? do fish nest?).
Mind you, if they are eggs, then I will be very suprised if they survive, as I don't have another gsp to fertilise them. But it would assure me that my b1tchy (sometimes) Buffy is a SHE!

GSP do seem to nest on the bottom, based on the German article with breeding guidelines. Sad that they will have no chance to survive if that's what it is. Any chance of closeups of the mass before they go necrotic and the eggs turn white?

Re: What does Buffy think he/she is doing??
What did you have your s.g. at?
Did the eggs hatch or did she just eat the cluster of eggs?
what size tank is it? What's the p.h. at?
It's amazing that she even laid eggs
congratulations. It's a shame they didn't survive, but this is still really amazing.

that's crazy. maybe someday you could try to find a male (if we figure out how to tell the difference). was the WC sg exactly the same?

Wouldn't that be nice! I love having babies around the place. But how do yu sex a GSP?Jase wrote:that's crazy. maybe someday you could try to find a male (if we figure out how to tell the difference).

I believe the WC sg was the same or as near as. The only thing different from the norm was the temp, which was at 28, instead of normally being 26.1
