My fahaka laying eggs?

Hi everyone,

I have these floating "bubbles". They are about 2mm in size each. Are they eggs? They are not obvious until the gravel is being vacuumed water change. That is when we lots of them.

The gal has been with me since she was an inch long. It has been two years. I noticed that she has got her fat and skinny days but they are not from a full stomach.

What do I do with the eggs? Should I throw in some cleaning crew i.e. ghost shrimps to clear the eggs?

Her poo is much larger and pinkish from the food we feed her. The tiny round stuff is all of the same pale beige colour and there are hundreds of them.

I believe this is how someone else figured out his fahaka was a female. How long have you had her?

My Fahaka is a female and reacts the same as yours, she will have a greater than normal appetite a day or so before she lays, then she seems to lose all of her stomach and relax for a hour or two.
Mine eats the eggs herself or we clean them up when doing the water change, she lays approx every 6-8 weeks.

So the females lay without a male around? Perhaps this is the answer to the problem of them seeming too aggressive to each other to breed in the wild... perhaps the females simply release eggs and the males inseminate them later, when she is not around.

It could be, mine has layed a few times now and she is very active a day or so before with an enhanced appetite.
In this state I would of thought that any male getting too close would be risking his life.

there are certain times when a couple days before and usually during a process in the females life, the male should stay clear, so as not to be attacked. these females also have enhanced eating habits, mostly a staple of chocolate...

Pufferpunk, I had her since 2005. Three years and three months to be exact. She was only an inch then.

My Fahaka is very friendly most of the time but there are days when she is grouchy and starts dashing from one end to the other end of the tank, banging into the glass! I am worried one day she will "break out" of the tank with her banging. A very frustrated female. LOL

LOL, I have a vision of a Male puffer with chocolates under his fin!
