help stocking tank.

Hey all -
So I've been doing some brackish research (as much as I could find!), and am having trouble finding size and compatibility.
Here's fish that met tank requirements and looked interesting to me, but how many of each and which? Can y'all please shoot me out some possible combinations (other fish ideas are welcome, too)... thanks.

I have a 29 gallon brackish tank.

Figure 8 Puffers
Bumble Bee Gobbies
Peacock Spiny Eels
Dragon Gobbies

A single dragon goby is too big for the tank alone, so they're out...
You could probably get away with one peacock eel, if you added nothing else. They would eat BB gobies.
You could put a pair of F8's and 6 or so BB gobies, they get along well.

Peacock eels will get too big. They are freshwater. Other spiny eels get WAY too big for a 29G unfortunately.

yeah striped peacock eels get rather large and are salt intolerant i was once handleing salt near my tank and a little tiny bit got into his tank and he freaked out undug all the plants pushed his tank mates around knocked over a large rock and then buried himself for 2 days

I would add Knight Goby to your list, unless you've already knocked them off. They're a very nice-looking goby!

Personally, if you wish to keep it low-end brackish, I would go with 1 Figure8, 1 Knight Goby, and a few Bumblebee Gobies. Just make sure you get them as babies, as adults can cause havocs in these types of setups (smaller BBGs + larger Goby/Puffer).

As for plants, if you do it properly, you *might* even be able to grow certain plants, depending on how slowly they are acclimated to the water.

yeah i love my knight goby and they have a new baby one at my lfs i have been eye balling for my grow out tank but i think you can do 2 f8s in a 29 if you stay on top of your water

Plants are possible. I have Crypts, Vals, Java fern, anubias and amazon swords in my brackish. Everything but the anubias and amazons seem to be doing well. However those were not slowly acclimated. Check out http://www.wetwebmedia.com for some articles about brackish plant growth. I will say the plants grow way slower than my 37g freshwater.

2 F8s & a pair of Knight gobies would do nicely in there, as long as you keep up with the 50% weekly WC.

Actually, a lot has happened since I was thinking of stocking my tank...it's called I've just gotten a 75g, and am thinking of going marine...there's some posts there. ...my husband wants it to be brackish though, cause he thinks marine will be to costly and complex

When I started my 55 gallon, it cost me about $2000 dollars just in the last 2 months, thats with a free tank, stand, filter, hood, and lights. I have to get a new job just to pay that money back (its for college). I don't even have a skimmer or enough live rock for the tank. Don't get me wrong I love the tank but it costs a lot of money. My boyfried and I have had some good luck and we haven't lost a fish till now, its like a chain reaction, one fish died then another and I hope that all because I just did a huge water change. Good luck to you, I just wanted you to know about what your looking at (I like to spend money on the tank so I can get carried away heee hee but it was all stuff we needed except the fish but that was the best part!)

In the long run, marine will be cheaper.

How is it that it is cheaper? (I believe you, just curious). Also, I was offered 50lbs of live sand and 50lbs of live rock for $80. It has been in an established tank for 3 years. A) Is that a good deal? (I think so...). B)Will I need more than that? ...Other questions from now on I will post in the marine section. Thanks everyone!

You'll definitely need more rock and sand than that for a 75g marine. Is the rock in good condition? Are there any parasites (aiptasia etc.) that you don't want to import into your new tank. Just some things to consider.
