Nice look, and cute fish. The java fern planted in the substrate will likely die unfortunately, it usually dies if it's root mass is not on a surface it can climb, due to water flow restriction.

If enough water flow gets over the root it may live, I've had some die and some not when I've tried it.

I bought the plants at fish-etc.com which the guy was extremely helpful. They have varity of plants and the owner told me the same thing but is not the roots is the rhizome that needs to be in the surface.

unfortunately yes..i turned my other 10 gal into quarantine tank and i have 1 more 5 gal but is for the betta. I have to figure out my next scenario. Most importnat things is to please my girlfreind so she wont be upset with another new tank in the house. The SAP and DP get along really really well but Irrubesco doesnt like the SAP because i tryed to put him in the 30 gal and my Irrubesco attcked him within mins(only the male). So i cant put him in there.

Are the DPs okay with the SAP? I mean, I've never tried two types of puffers together.

Well you have to look at the species behavior and you also have to look at indiviual behavior. Even tho if one species are peaceful but some can be more agressive then the other. Im lucky that thE SAP and DP get along. They dont mind each other at all.

Well, then, my friend, you have some special puffers! You are so lucky! How long have they been together?

Yeah, of course. But it's only temporary, so it should be fine.
