Forget the Manderins--you need a well-established tank & a refugium, as they mostly only eat live pods.

Awwww. That kinda sucks. The guy at the LFS store told me that too. I think he also mentioned they only live like 6 mo anyway...

Ok thanks so much Yunachin. That helps me a ton. I'm going to re-configure my list a little here and scratch those items you said are difficult/need to wait on/have short lifespan. You have been most helpful.

I know you dq'ed the Narrow Lined puffer, but if you saw a lively specimen, you may wish to reconsider if you have the room; we really like ours. We've only had our 2" guy for a couple of weeks, but he's fearless; he jumps out of the water to grab his food (we discovered this accidentally), will bob on the surface to watch us, and follows us whenever we're in the room. According to http://wetwebmedia.com/tetraodontpuffers.htm , although they can get up to 12", they normally get about 6" in captivity. He's been living with our 1" Tetrosomus gibbosus (Pyramid/ Hovercraft/ Helmet/ Thorned Cowfish) in the qt, and they get along fine (KOW).

We've had good luck with common cleaner shrimp with a few of our puffers, but so far, that's the only inverts that haven't ended up as a midnight snack, so I can't comment on any of the others listed.

Oooo well TY, that is very interesting. lol, of course if I was going to go back and snag him I would need another tank >.< We shall see I guess, cause I'm going back there today for fishy food. I'll check and see if hes still there....cause he has been there for at least 1 month already and he is about 4.5 - 5 inches.

I haven't had a chance to snag any pics of him yet >.< but I plan on posting a few pics of him as soon as I find some time to sit there and play with him, as he is very very shy. So.. Very Soon! Though his tank is a little bare atm.

Yes, I purchased him like 4 or 5 days ago. So far it is him, 3 small corals and a few SW Ghost shrimps and 5lbs of live rock. Not too impressive atm, but its a start. He looks to be very happy and my corals are doing well.

lol yea he is a green spotted something or other ... like every other fish out there

If so it needs a 150 gallon+ tank and if it dies can release a toxin that could kill everything else in the tank... sorry I dont mean to sound so dramatic!

The majority of boxfish have the capability of releasing the toxin under stress and etc.
