Mbu growth
My mbu puffer is named Ziggy. He arrived about five weeks ago and was 9"long.I put him in his own 150 gallon for quaratine.I thought he would be comfortable for a long time before he needed a tank upgrade. But after just five weeks he is now 10.5"long and I think he is eyeballing the 700 gallon tank thats setting accross the room. What growth rates are other mbu keepers experiencing ?

I love that puffer!
Clooney would know growth rates, but if he already grew that much I'd switch him over ASAP and watch him grow even more!

I'll give you a tip on how to get the glass spot free, wipe it with a damp cloth, then rub until dry with a completely dry cloth. Perfect spot free glass every time! And no cleaning solutions required too!

Re: Mbu growth
I'm not too sure I can answer this really as I bebilve that Clooney was stunted in my 5ft tank. However at the length yours is the growth rate did start to slow down and once he hit about 15 inches he would maybe only grow about an inch every year or so. If given a large tank with great water turnover and good food though I can see no reason why they would race on to their full size in under 2 years

Re: Mbu growth
Ziggy continues to grow at a good clip.Today he took a break by the front glass and I was able to measure him.He is now 12" long. This seems like a pretty good growth rate since I only feed him once every two or three days and always leave him wanting more.

Re: Mbu growth
thats the best way with these guys, they will happily eat until they burst IME. Ziggy sounds like he is in very capable hands

He's beatuiful. I would love to get a Mbu but I would have to get rid of the sofa's first.

Re: Mbu growth
I agree, Silicon the room shut and put a deckchair outside and look through the window instead!!
Re: Mbu growth
That's nice growth rate.I don't think mine are growing that fast but they are definitely growing. Nice job!
