Please give us the measurements of your tank.

i keep forgetting to mention stuff, sorry for the multiple replies...

i may be able to work on my parents with the whole other tank situation, so i was thinking awhile ago about a 55 above my couch, what do you guys think would fit best in here?

im thinking maybe the aro (obviously he would stay super small) gsps and 2 manguenese

Certainly not large enough for a mbu then. Have you checked into the adult sizes of all the fish you have now.

wait a minute... there's all sorts of strange things going on here..

Firstly, why would the aro stay super small? Are you planning on actively trying to stunt it?

secondly, GSP's need alot of salt and potentially full marine as they reach around 4 inches, and cannot be kept with an aro....

Just checked it out.. Peacock bass.. 24 inches (typically) potentially bigger... Arowana.. 40 inches...... both need to be in a tank the size of your big one, neither can handle a 55G tank...

GSPs, actually 6". You are correct on the salt.

sorry PP, not what i meant...

meant they potentially need full marine at around 4 inches... not that they only reach 4 inches....

I worded it funny... :-)

youre prolly right on the gps thing, it was just a thought because i knew they were small and would indeed fit a 55. id heard a couple times that they would be okay in full fresh but its the first time i heard they would need salt past a certain size, so thank you for that info.

and your right on the aro, moving him to a 55 would be a god awful idea. he probably would be hurt by the move to the small tank and probably wouldnt survive past a few months, id hate to see that happen. just scratch the 55 im just gonna worry about that later.

but yea i think theres some confusion on what i will and will not be keeping in my tanks so ill try to clear up as much as i can.

okay SO peacock, aro...staying in the large tank....i would like a puffer to go with them, thank you for the advice, now i know the mbu and fahaka would not fit. so i would like to know what good choices would be based on size and aggression.

mind you my aro and peacock are very mild mannered, only show aggression during feeding. im sure you have all seen this before.

so glad your gonna keep the bass and aro in the big tank, aro's are so beautiful (and soooo expensive when they get big) it'd be lovely to watch it grow...

but a puffer is really going to hard if not impossible...

mid sized ones tend to be brackish... big ones are too big or too aggressive... lurkers tend to be super aggressive.. and tiny freshwater ones would be snacks... :-(

Could you not get the 55G (Uk G right?) for behind the sofa and put two GSP's in there? or put your hairy one in there, rather than take him back?

other than that you could go to the other end of the scale, and get a 10G tank for your bedroom/somewhere small and buils a wonderful aquascaped home for a pair of dwarf puffers.... a tiny side project... :-)

yeah that makes sense. i dunno its weird cause the only two fish he hasnt done anything two are the bass and the aro. its like they have the top and mid, he has the bottom. i guess the other fish who were attacked got in his space, which makes complete sense. big tank, big fish, they want an area of their own.

i think a question of mine was misunderstood though.

i asked if i took more fish out would he become less aggressive, i meant in the tank i have NOW, not one i would be doing in the future.

but i think i answered my own question hahahaha
