What kind of molly did you buy then?

Re: Baby Ceylons + Molly = ?
I bought a black molly but it looks like she might be part black molly part the other kind that is orange because her fins are lined with orange/gold. She is actually quite pretty!

Re: Baby Ceylons + Molly = ?

There's molly! She is the most difficult fish I've ever had to take pictures of! You can kind of see her back fin that is goldeny orange, its the same color as her belly but it didn't show up in any of the picture. She really glitters when she is in the light.
Do you think that she really is a mix between a black molly and the orange ones? They had black and oranges in the same tank at the LFS. If she ends up surviving maybe I can get some black and orange and see if they breed and make pretty fish like her!

Whoa!! She's so cool!!! Wonderful... I have 2 female black mollies, their head is colored by some greeny silver coloration. I will try to take a picture of them but I don't know if it'll be clear to see (my cam is not a good one
)

Molly is beautiful! I'm guess thats what she is, cause most LFS don't keep them seperated.
employee says, "mollies and mollies should go together cause we don't have room."
bad if you want a specific, good if you want a beautiful cross like Molly.

Re: Baby Ceylons + Molly = ?
Well, I went to the LFS today and looked at some Mollies. My GF insisted that we get Balloon Mollies, so I picked up 4 females and 1 male. Turns out (and I didn't realize this at the time) that balloon mollies are actually inbred mutations of normal mollies, meaning that I bought a line of fish that are highly inbred and often have deformed babies...
On a positive note, Allakazam doesn't seem to mind them... Pickles, on the other hand, insists on chasing them around and nipping them.
I'm going to see if he calms down a bit, or if he insists on picking on them, in which case I'll have to remove them. Stupid Pickles, why does he have to be a jerk! If only he knew he'd get free baby meals out of sharing the tank! >_<

Balloon mollies are also much less adept swimmers, making them less able to avoid attack
No matter how magnificent your successes or devastating your failures, the worlds' approximately 5 billion impoverished people could not possibly care less.

Re: Baby Ceylons + Molly = ?
Yeah, well, last night one of the mollies was sucked into the powerhead and then Pickles removed a majority of his face before I could get there. So one is gone. I woke up today, and found only half of the male remaining while Pickles was happily taking chunks out of him.
Soooo I went to remove the remaining three, and could only catch one. So I dripped him back to freshwater and went to put him in my tetra tank, but Frederico started flaring and chasing it around. It looks like there's just no hope for these little guys.

Re: Baby Ceylons + Molly = ?
Aww thats sad.
Can you take them back to the LFS?
Maybe normal mollies would survive with the ceylons. I know Milton hasn't eaten Molly yet, she seems to be a lot faster than him any ways, she is kind of a spaz.

oh yeah, and does anyone know how to sex a molly because from what I've read online my molly (which I named molly) is a man. And I feel kind of bad for calling him molly...
