Well, he's STUFFED on a slightly too large crayfish meal right now, so I'm thinking I'll have a bit before he does it again... he usually eats a lot of sand when he's on the search for food. Perhaps I'll borrow my father's webcam and set it up in his begging corner, and start recording for an hour or two here and there once he skinnies up, if he's begging a lot, I'll usually see several blasts in two hours. At first I couldn't figure out where these puffs of sand were coming from, I'd catch them in the corner of my eye and turn my head, but by then it was just a snowfall below him and I figured it must have been stuck to his belly and brushed off on a plant or something. Then one day I was watching, and POOT, argonite fart pops out of Shakespeare. It's definately a fart of some sort with an actual blast scattering the sand, very distinct from his pooing, which is rather slow and involves brown turds.

the sounds you describe remind me of the cloverfield monster. ahahah. this was such a great post though.

in all honesty though. ive seen my tang that i have at my store do that a lot. and parrotfish in their groups of fours go onto corals..and basically poo arogonite onto them and ruin their day totally

but it happens ya are what ya eat man

I know my family thinks I'm nuts. I'm laughing so hard I've got tears.

Does that stink? Does he have any tankmates? Do they care about it? LOL
Very funny!!

Don't worry about it, most fish eat substrate to help their digestion, in Shakespeare's case, he's just looking for food and accidentally he swallows some sand which can't be digested and finally you see that "snow storm", right?

It seems a totally harmless passive ingestion, yes. No stink that I've found, the little puffers with him seem to politely ignore it totally ;)
