My Puffer Sleeps all the time

Post by N3cr0m4nc3r »

I'm a little worried about my puffer, all the time is lying in the sand and when I approach or knock on the glass he stays there and after a while he stars to swim normally but then again stays on the sand for a long time. Could this be normal? What do you think? By the way, he's staying in the quarantine tank we bought him 10 days ago, he eats normally.
Greetings and thank you guys.

It would be great if you could give a bit more info.

What kind of puffer is it? What size tank is he in? How long have you had him? And water parameters, (ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, ph)

Actually I noticed this too. Kind of.

I put my 4 'weirdo' GSPs into Brackish from pure freshwater. ( Yes, I acclimated them slowly so as not to shock them ) Low and behold as they stop moving around and chill on the bottom all the time now. WTF ?

what are your nitrates? I'm assuming you meant 20 ppm?
He could be stressed, I'm assuming your quarantine has no decor right? THat could be causing him to act the way he is. Is he eating? What size tank do you have for him after quarantine? Also how big is he?

Any puffer I have had in a quarantine where he could see the entire tank only moved to eat. I expected frantic pacing, but only when spooked.
