false Percula clownfish And GSP?
Would it be possible to keep a false Percula clownfish and a GSP in a 29gallon tank? I'm planning on upgrading my tank to a 55gallon in a few months, and was planning on waiting. But there's a gorgeous clownfish at my LFS, and I'd hate to pass it up, for some reason we really don't get many false Percula clownfish in my area, so I'm excited to see one.

Re: false Percula clownfish And GSP?
Yes, but you are going to have to watch the GSP very closely for aggression towards the clown. Make sure to have some anemone-like corals in your tank that the clown can retreat to if he feels threatened. Mushrooms, frogspawn etc..
If it gets too bad you may have to remove someone.

I went ahead and bought him last night, and so far things are going great. I named him Otto, and the puffer just completely ignores him. Otto has been swimming around happily and exploring all the caves. He ate some pellets this morning, so I'm really hopeful things will turn out well in the long run. Otto is such an excellent addition to my tank.

I hope so too! Someday I hope that when Milton gets upgraded to the 55 him and "nemo" (yes thats what my boyfriend wanted to name our false percula) could live happily but I don't know, Milton may look sweet but he really is a killer, lol. Then my SW fish could get a biiiggg tank.

I don't know much on GSPs...I will say that I have extensive experience with A Ocellaris and A. Percula, both in breeding, keeping and hybridizing. These "nemos" can be quite ferocious and will guard their little areas that they call "home".

All the better for a GSP i guess since they can be aggressive fish.

Re: false Percula clownfish And GSP?
It's been 25days, and so far no problems at all. They actually seem to enjoy eachother's company. They sleep in the same area and usually swim together. I had a minor problem the first time I feed them, but it was resolved without any injuries, now they even eat together.
It seems like things will be fine long-term, but I'll make sure to keep an eye out for any issues later on.

Re: false Percula clownfish And GSP?
As clowns grow from juvenile to adult they have a tendency to become more aggressive. It's good that things are going smoothly so far.

Does a false clown look the same as a regular clown? I am new to salt water and salt water fish, do you have a pic of him? Glad things are going well!

false perculas look a LOT like regular perculas, but they both look pretty much like clownfish.
